Well, as much as I could comment on all of this ... I'm just gonna say that ocean avenue would never be on mtv if it wasn't for everyone of you supporting one for the kids so technically .... something clever. You know what I'm getting at.

Say what you want about me, but if you still like Yellowcard post-Ocean Avenue, you're a sell out too. Yellowcard sold out on One for the Kids. And I've hated them since. I just don't think you get what's going on here. People are arguing that you're a dick head, not that Ryan can write good songs. So please don't think I like Ryan Key. I know he's a prick who steals songs. Did you know that sureshot was not written by yellowcard? yeah probably not. I believe you're just overboard in hating view from heaven. I'm with you, I don't like it. It sucks that his song for scott is a crappy ho down song. I mean compare the song quality to Again. There's no question who is the better band. I'm open to expression and opinion even if it's about a song about someone deceased. I just think you're arguments are pretty week. Like calling this song bluegrass. Cheers

What's with all the Yellowcard hate? I like Yellowcard, they're one of my favourite bands of all time, along with Inspection 12. Both bands make amazing music. I like everyone in Inspection 12 and Yellowcard.

Ok, fine... I'm not trying to start a feud or anything, but I hate Yellowcard and obviously some of you don't. We'll leave it at that. Maybe I am a dickhead, but I could give a shit what any of you'll think. I'm inclined to support the words of the all wise Yoda on this one. He knows all and sees all.

It's fine for you to have your opinion about Yellowcard. No one here expects everyone to like them. Even Yellowcard themselves know that. But you just can't attack a band from the same hometown as Inspection 12 on the I12 messageboard and not expect to start a feud.

I like everyone in Inspection 12 and Yellowcard. Agreed, but why is everybody freakin out over this? This is the I12 board, not the yellowcard bashing board... If you have somethin bad to say about them then go to their site and say it.

hey guys....while your passion about bands and music is a good thing to have and discuss with each other....some of you turn out looking like the assholes that you're pointing your finger at. most of the posted content is opinionated...which is fair...but lets keep it fair please. there are much worse things going on in the world than a band you dont like selling more records than a band you do like....or whatever your case may be. and ryan doesnt use auto-tuners like you may think....and he's my roommate....and im in both bands....and i like them both...thank you to everyone that likes either of them if not both...and no thank you to the people that show utter disgust and remorse towards any of my friends that i play music with. cool....happy belated valentines day to all you gals and guys....and happy early scott shad day to all and to all a piece off the hapiness pie. pete

While I believe my friend Pete on this issue since he was there during the recording process, you would not believe how common autotuners have become in the recording industry. Even great singers have started using them, mainly in the interest of saving time. I think that they are ok if used only in the slighest correction, but I think they kill most singer's tone. Some people are even using them in live shows now!
For those of you who don't know what we're referring to, think of the Cher song about Do You Believe in Life After Love or something like that and that's autotune at it's most extreme. But even at lower settings, you can still tell it's there if you listen carefully. Now, I'm not going to say whether the guys in YC used it or not because it's not really my concern, plus my band used it in very small amounts after we had recorded the vocals to fix minor things when the only other option would have been to fly the singer up to Atlanta to cut a very insignificant portion of the track.
However, for the most part, I hate autotuners and wish they had never been invented... what's next? Autodrummers.. oh right, we've already got drum machines... those have no tone or groove either. Some of the great recordings of our time dating back to the beginning of recording studios was done without all this magic technology and I'd love to see things go back to the way they used to be, but that's never going to happen as long as they keep signing people with no talent like Ashlee Simpson. Well, that's my 2 cents.

I agree with Matt that autotuning screws up the vocal tone. It makes the voice sound computerish. I think ted bond used it on his last ep. I just think it's really unnatural. Sometimes when someone is naturally sharp, in someways it's good. Because it's just on the border of being perfect, so there's something that I connect with. Anyone know if Dan used autotune on Get Rad? It really isn't that bad, as Matt said, everyband uses it, it's all apart of protools and sonar. anyways, how'd this topic come up?

The topic came up because I think someone said something about Yellowcard using autotuners, and Pete posted that they did not. I took it as an opportunity to throw in my opinion about autotuners, which is that they are very much unfair to people with real talent. For example, a very attractive person that can be autotuned if they aren't the greatest singer (you fill this one in.... I'm sure there are more than enough people that qualify for this one) is much more likely to get signed than an amazing singer who isn't so good looking. And that sucks.... it's not really fair anymore.
At least on American Idol you get to hear them without any studio magic until they win and then they cut their album with autotuners. But at least you know whether they can sing or not before they get signed. Oh well, it's a part of life now and I should just accept it.
