Dan: Ryan and I have been friends since we were 14 or 15 - a year and a half ago we got into this huge not talking to one another fight (like girls do sometimes, no offense ladies) and we kept it going for like eight months. So, yes it is true. We're fine now. That corresponds to the time frame I set. They got in a fight during i12's first national tour. Anyways. Gifts and curses also steals big time from Get Rad.

dude, you are a moron. you have your opinion about heaven, and so does ryan. you are more than welcome to write a song about how there is no heaven if you'd like just like ryan can share his view of heaven.
ps. i didn't like the song at first, but after a few months of having it come up in my playlist it has really grown on me. slap me in the nuts and call me crazy but it's one of my favorite yellowcard songs now.

You're a fag if you like that song. That's quite possibly the gayest song since Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy." I bet you have posters of Ryan Key all over your walls... OMG, Yellowcard is like the greatest band in the world. Ryan is sooooo hot! Have fun rocking out to Ocean Avenue.

Well I guess if he's singing about a dude, then it must be a gay song. I don't think the lyrics are all that great especially since I get the vibe it's about a girl, meaning it wasn't very personal to Scott, well besides singing in the car. But still, I'm sure you've heard worse songs. Why don't you rip on another song that's not about a passed i12 member.

So basically what you're saying is that all I have to do is write a song about someone that has died, and it has immunity from being ripped on? So no matter how terrible the song and even if it treats Scott's death like a fucking ho' down good ol' time country song (or bluegrass song), then we have to respect that just because it's about someone who has died. That's bullshit... it's an offensive stupid little song from an offensive stupid little man. Say what you want about me, but if you still like Yellowcard post-Ocean Avenue, you're a sell out too.
By the way, for all those who defend this song, did you actually know Scott? Just curious.

So I guess after 6 years of listening to Yellowcard,a band who just wanted to make it a little more,it was all a waste of time.I don't think so.Sure,I lost a little bit of respect for them, but it isn't to the point where I hate them.If you don't like them,go pledge your hate elsewhere.

Actually, I think that's exactly what Great Scott said when he said: "Why don't you rip on another song that's not about a passed i12 member."
Whatever, you guys can me all the names that you want but the truth remains that Yellowcard is gay and only teeny-bopper little girls like them because they are MTV sellouts. Their new music sounds nothing like their old sound and for that reason alone I have lost respect for them. It's not like they improved their sound to make their band better.. in fact, they did the exact opposite and Ocean Avenue is an overproduced, auto-tuned, poorly written piece of shit that is designed for one purpose: to sell cd's. Anyone who likes Yellowcard needs to seriously grow up and find some real music to listen to.
i12dude14: Didn't I read somewhere that you are in fact 14? Am I to believe that you have been listening to YC since you were 8 years old? Are you serious? I don't remember what I listened to when I was 8. It's good to know that you at least lost some respect for them when they put out OA, but everyone else on here seems to be blinded by Ryan's charming skills at making everyone believe he's talented.

By the way, does anyone on here actually know Ryan Key personally and know how much of an egotistical dickhead he is? Well I do, and I can't wait for the day when he pisses you off too and we'll be in the same boat and you'll be talking shit about Yellowcard. How can you have respect for yourself putting money in that guys pocket buying his terrible music and going to their concerts? I wouldn't care so much that his music sucks if he wasn't such a complete and total asshole. Fuck that guy.

I don't let the personality of some guy thousands of miles away shape my opinions of his music. I don't know him personally which is why the reason i like Yellowcard isn't that he has 'charmed' me in to thinking that he/they are good. I like them because they make music that is pleasing to the ear. Believe it or not, the reason why so many people like the latest album is because it is the product of a band striving to write good pop(ular) songs. I don't care what their motive is in doing so, if the music's good i'll dig it and so will others that love a well written pop tune. If you don't like it then fair enough, but i think Yellowcard's record sales would suggest that they're pretty damn good at what they do.

Oh and is it worth mentioning the fact that Pete gets a significant amount of credit for the writing of Ocean Avenue...?

I've known Ryan since 9th grade, and he's been a dick since 9th grade. Ryan is about Ryan, and that's that. I'm sure the thought crossed his mind to change the name of the band to Ryan Key featuring Yellowcard.. and I'm sure a solo album is in the works.
Yellowcard's record sales prove only one thing. Kids will buy anything you ask them to, just like all the crap that's been released before them that has went platinum.
Ryan better hope Sean never quits, because Sean is the only thing that sets them apart from every other pop punk band out there right now. I don't see Yellowcard making it past one more album, if that. Some other gimmick band will show up and the kids will forget about Yellowcard. Yellowcard is not a trend, they are a fad, fad's are something we've already had, but once you're gone. You don't come back. The only trend Yellowcard has set is helping spawn more terrible bands with singers that can't sing live with violin players.
I look at it like this. You can take shit, and do everything you can to make it not smell like shit, put some scented candles around it, auto tune it's vocals (whoops) maybe spray some air freshener on it, or whatever you like, be creative, and for a while it might help. but in the end, it's still shit.
Yoda has spoken.
