Since we are sharing secret tidbits about the recording of "Get Rad", here is one that will surely blow your mind. Believe it or not, the entire album was actually recorded backwards. Thats right. Backwards. They all stood in a room, with their intrsuments, facing the opposite wall, looking away from the sounds boards and recorded the album, in one sitting, backwards. Its the truth. For those of you who are skeptical, there were hidden cameras to capture the genius that was unfolding. Some of you might find it hard to believe that a band could actually record an entire album standing in the opposite direction of the people and the machines recording the music, but thats just how talented and unorthodox these guys are when it comes to music. And to top it off, Dan refused to use conventional strings for his bass, but rather opted for rod iron bars. Tim covered his cymbals with pillow cased and demanded that only one fisher-price microphone be used for his entire drum kit. Pete was told by the sound engineer, Charles Kipperedfish, that the only way to successfully record his piano on tracks 3 & 7, was to arrange a meeting between himself and the enchanted leprechauns who hold the secret to "correct piano recording techniques", only to be used in the greater jacksonville area. Well, Pete reluctantly took the potion provided and was magically whisked away to meet with the Leprechauns and well, the rest is history.
