So I heard blink-182 is taking an indefinite hiatus. What are everyone's thoughts? Do people like blink-182? I hope they don't break up.

i couldn't care less. It's not like i go to their shows. Who the hell really wants to spend that much money to see a mediocre band and have to use binoculars to see them on stage. Sorry, I prefer smaller bands that play from the heart not the dollar.

Erm...ok you know this is the same band that paid for their own tour and everything that went with it so they could sell tickets for one dollar? I guess the cynics among you will think that its a great publicity stunt or that they could have made the concert free but i don't think that's the point here.
Anyway, i was/am a fan of Blink 182. I guess i'll miss them if they never make any more records or play any more shows...but the word on the west coast is that they'll be back so fingers crossed.
In the mean time Mark is producing the new Motion City Soundtrack album so buy that instead.

Sorry, I prefer smaller bands that play from the heart not the dollar. It always amuses me how people frown upon success. I mean, after all, Blink did sell out, right? So what, they don't play small places. If they did? A few thousand fans in that area would be a little dissapointed. And of course it costs more money for a ticket for a band in an arena...mainly because there are so many more costs when pulling off a tour like that. Don't go to their shows. That's cool. But, as far as things being "from the heart?" They had nothing once...toured in a van...had limited budgets...and they happened to throw something innovative at the world around the time they happened to "make it." Their craft may have been silly and disgusting at times, but it was innovative.

Blink changed the scene whether you want to believe that or not. They deserved every bit of success they got and I, for one, will miss them if this is, indeed, the end.

other than the drumming, blink's music is for sure mediocore. but for some reason i love throwning in dude ranch, or enema of the state in every once in a while. i kinda like their new cd as well, some of the songs at least.

that news is a big time bummer. what exactly is the difference between an indefinite hiatus and breaking up? they're not gunna play any shows or work on any new stuff right?

I wasn't really into them, but it's pretty sad. But they were much better before everyone knew them, but thats how it always goes. But I'm glad they "made-it" thats jsut what they wanted to do and you should be happy for them. Maybe I don't know how to be mean.

An indefinite hiatus means they will take a break for an unspecified amount of time. They make work together again or they may not.

I'm in no way frowning on Success. I think you guys assumed way to much there. I simply made the point I don't enjoy seeing bands that big because 1, the shows suck and 2, I don't feel the new material is written well (from the heart). I've never really liked anything newer than dude ranch. Not because I'm a purist poseur, but because I just don't enjoy their new stuff. You can't blame me for that. It's pretty safe to say weezer started out great then after pinkerton went down hill.
I'm also completely aware that blink are horrible musicians (fine except travis, who really doesn't impress me). How many of view have recorded at doubletime in san diego? well if you did record there, you've probably heard the countless stories of how bad blink plays, the countless retakes etc...
As far as what they did for the scene? You mean besides making punk rock safe and parent approved? Blink is just a product of Green Day's success. You guys can go on and think they're a great band, and be sad if they stop recording and touring. But get it clear. I'm not upset that they are successful and sellouts. I dislike them because they aren't fun to listen to. Hence my reply to the OP.

An indefinite hiatus means they will take a break for an unspecified amount of time. They make work together again or they may not. i somehow read that like 'infinite hiatus'.... but either way their breakup would mean that they won't come around anymore eh but 'indefinitive'? why didn't they just say 'infinitive'? 'indefinitive' leaves much room for their possible coming back later on which i don't welcome at all. quite possibly they will come back whenever they run out of money after living a filthy and extravagant life, with silly pop punk shit which is a flipping fad these days. among the stupid teeny boppers. i liked their older stuff though, but as of late they're just nothing special in my book. their latest stuff was totally blah.

ummmmm.....how about every single song follows the same simple formula.....it's something like this. gay little intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, gay little solo that is nothing but the melody, chorus, end. that formula= gay little songs.

lol inspectionstare stare you're not gay are you? Weezer have always had simple songs, they've never changed their style. I like that about them, it's easy to listen and enjoyed their vocal harmonies alot more on the green album! Oh well each to their own!
