Umm..sorry to bring back the t-shirt size questions, but I wanted to get a 'Get Rad Chili Dog' hoodie...I don't know if I should get a small or a medium. I'm 5'8", 140 lbs. so I'm not tall, and I'm not very big either. I don't want it to be as tight as that emo kid's jeans at the From Autumn to Ashes show, but I also don't want to look like a coat hanger in it either.

trevor i would say definitely get a medium, there's only youth L in the black hoodies which is basically a small, but a tad smaller, so those are mostly for the 14-18 year old girls that congregate by the thousands at inspection 12 shows. i have a friend who matches your specs pretty much and a medium is perfect on him

Owen-Very nicely put. Yeah if a drummer isn't loud and powerful live, I feel that the whole band will suffer...at least for the punk genre of music. Derrick was an extremely fast drummer. I think that his timing wasn't too great....he tended to speed up and stuff....but thats getting pretty picky. He did some ridiculous fills and made the band sound really good so thats basically what matters right. I think he played on the first Ataris record too, Anywhere but Here I think it was called. Check out the band "the Other' if you've never heard them. Pete introduced me to them and the drummer for that band is absolutely ridiculous! He's amazing.

I love Tre Cool because he's so powerful and just really good. He's probably my favorite punk drummer. I could go on for a while but I'll stop for now....spare the non-drummers.

hey man, I'm the same size as you and I got a large (I was skeptical since I usually get stuff that's medium) but it fits perfect so ... yeah.

i saw derrick live in 2002,and ive seen dave raun live aswell as others,and he was good,really tight..really tech..im not sure bout the speed up thing tho..mmm theres some off beat style orcistrations that he does that throw him kinda into a step ahead or behind, then the music kinda jst flows back in..that is on purpous although it sounds for a minuet like its a mistake.. tho..thats wat i like about lagwagon they do that alot..

i like tre cool also..but im really into progresing and feel his level of drumming really suits the music/and is fun to play and listen2 .but isnt to far up the ladder of "great drumming"i like to sometimes set my goals on a hard to reach level.its nice to relax here and there tho..
for now i to will spear the none drummers..

Owen-Cool man. Nice input again. Yeah I think Tre kinda always plays the same style...but he's just so damn solid I can't not love it. The drums on Warning are so powerful.

Check out "the Other" man. Have you heard them? I wanna see what you think. I haven't heard them in a while and don't have any of their cd's, but need to get some because that drummer is soooo good.

tre cool is just a rockin drummer. thats the only way i can describe him. his drummin just makes me wanna bob my head up and down. i still think dave raun is better than plourde. derrick was on all the albums up to and including hoss i believe. then dave took over. ive seen dave live and come away thinking he was amazing. another guy who rocks is sean sellers. until he left good riddance anyways. smelly is rad too. he always looks bored out of his mind when he plays live. hes always really calm and has a very relaxed form.

I'm a big fan of thrice's drumming. and Tre Cool's as well. Another drummer I love listening to is the drummer for Thursday. Incredible. And for really innovative stuff, Gatsby's American Dream.

whoa. how was there all this talk about drumming and i didn't know about it? thrice's drummer is so soild its ridiculous and the coolest part about him is his shoulders don't move for the entire set (i've been trying to work on that.) you see so many drummers today flailing all over their kit and just aren't that great. then you've got the guy from thrice who just sits back and kills it. you gotta love it.

these cds have some nice, unique drumming on them too.

Jonny-Nice wording. Yeah thats one thing I didn't mention but you put it well....I love when a drummer looks comfortable and fluid while he plays. I saw some guys saying that the drummer for Simple Plan is so good, but I just don't see it. One of their songs has this long roll on the snare (I think its "I'd do anything" or whatever), and it always looks like he's about to pass out when I've seen him do it live....his wrists are really tight when he plays.

Ben-I never got into Thursday's music that much but I did see a 30 minute live show of them on mtv2 I think, and man you're right that drummer is really really good. He had a really cool style and was amazing.

Have any of you guys ever seen a Buddy Rich drum solo on tape?? Not a punk drummer obviously, but I gaurantee you you'll wanna quit after you watch it. I can't believe that its possible for someone to get that good!

yeah, back in highschool on long bus rides to jazz festivals in idaho and san fran we used to watch a lot of old jazz footage and documentaries and shit. buddy rich was a disgusting drummer. most acomplished jazz drummers are. the original drummer from megadeth was a jazz drummer. he was really amazing, but of course he died

obviously. he was in Megadeth after all.. the only song I know of them is the Duke Nukem theme.. pretty classic.

More drumming chat: I'm not a drummer myself (yet, Im supposed to become one soon lol) but a few punk bands that have good drummers that I know of are
- RxBandits. The guy does really nice stuff and it sounds fresh, not the same rythm all over again.
- CigaR. Don't know what they are up too but their album "speed is relative" is pretty fucking great. Very technical but not too heavy at the same time. I heard their drummer learned playin jazz.. so it kind of explains.
- death by stereo: their first drummer was really god from what you can here on "If look could kill, I'd watch you die"
- Raised Fist: ok hardcore here people. But that guy is like a human rythm. And his rolls are sooo fluid.

Ill stop here.. also Im all judging on studio work since I havent seen these bands live.. (which is a shame)

The original drummer for megadeth died? Do you know if it was Nick Menza? He was amazing. I love megadeth. Dan and I got so inspired by Countdown to Extinction when we were in like 6th grade...them and Metallica were mostly what we listened to back in those days.

I guess Nick Menza didn't die. I just searched on the internet and he has a band now called Menza...haha. Nice band name. That's a funny idea naming the band the drummer's last name. If we followed that formula I12 would be called Grisnik.

i think i12 is ready for a name change anyways. grisnik aint so bad. but yeah, nick menza didnt die. though the original drummer Gar Samuelson died from a drug overdose i think or something drug related. or not. i cant remember anymore. but yeah, Gar Samuelson
was a pretty sick drummer. he'e play buddy rich fills but in metal form! haha
