I don't know if I've got this on the right board or not, but here goes. I made a cover of "Doppleganger," and, I know it's not the best of quality, but I'd like you guys on the board to listen and let me know what you think. It's a little bit different from the real song to accommodate for lack of instrumentation and my own style, but hopefully it's still enjoyable. You can find my cover at my purevolume site. I look forward to hearing your comments.

I think he's serious... remember what you're mother said, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

I'd rather have a kid like this redo it than ryan key. Maybe he should speed up the tape, cuz it's awfully low. or give it another shot and sing up an octave

That's what it sounded like to me... like the tape was running really slow. No offense, but that's what it sounded like. But then again, some people just have low voices... Barry White for example.

That's my voice. Low, I know, but that's the range in which I'm most comfortable. I could up the tempo, I suppose.
Sorry it sucks.

Hey I never said it sucked.... I'll leave that kind of shit up to people like Simon on American Idol. It just sounds strange at such a low ocatve, that's all. Keep practicing and it'll come... singing is really fucking hard and I bet that most of the people that will tell you that you suck can't sing for shit themselves.

I think the problem is that you're not singing in your range. That's too low. The upside is, it's similar to early sebodah.
Try again, but singing up an octave, i'm sure you can do it.

You're right Matt, i can't sing for shit.
BUT YOU FUCKING SUCK DUDE!!!
In all seriousness though, you've got the tune down (although it gets lost somewhere when you go really low) and it seems like actually when you sing some of the harmony parts you've got a bit of a range. Just practice singing those higher notes and your vocal range will start to extend.
At least you had the balls to have a go my friend and really it ain't all that bad an effort.

Whoa, your voice is deeper than mine, and that's saying something.I'm not saying your voice is bad, because I can tell it's not,but you definately can go a little bit higher, and you'd be great.

Hey MrDave, I can't really sing for shit either. I mean, I sing well enough to write my songs and get the vocal patterns arranged, but I prefer someone to sing for my band that's a little, uh, I guess the only word for it would be blacker. Oh sorry, PC... more African-Americaner. Unless I wake up all of a sudden one morning sounding like Stevie Wonder, I have no desire to front a band. That's all for now...

I sing most everything in this octave. Some of my original songs have me in higher octaves, though. I think both of the other songs on there have me singing higher. But this is the way I've sung this song since I got the album. It's what I'm most comfortable and strong in. I do, however, usually just sing the harmony parts.
I could work on it and get higher, and I've been trying to expand my range. So, I guess it's a work in progress.
Heh. I think I should cover a Coheed and Cambria song, just to see what the reaction to my voice would be.

When you go REALLY low for the harmonies, I'm reminded of the timeless line in This Is Spinal Tap, which is something to the effect of: No, that's more of a raga; that's a great scene when they're trying to sing Heartbreak Hotel at Elvis's gravesite. Anyway, you can hear pitch which is a good thing, but you just need to try and sing higher. If an octave up is too high, try using a capo and moving it up to A or B (I think that song's in G but I'm not sure). Ok, good luck.
