I am a drummer, and i cant say enough about the recording on Get Rad. I have listened to the album so much, and each time i notice something new that you threw in. it has really helped me open up my playin style. anyways, I am getting ready to buy new heads (toms/bass). I was wondering what heads you used for the recording....and if those are the same heads you use for shows? i think your set fits the bands sound really well. cant wait for the show. thanks

My favorite heads, and this is coming from a recording perspective since I'm not a drummer, are the Aquarian Super Kick I,II, or III for your bass drum, Remo coated Ambassador for the snare, and either the Remo Pinstripes or Evans for the toms. Honestly, there's no better kick drum head than the Aquarian Super Kick series. But that's just my opinion. Later.

Thanks so much for the compliments man. The best part was when you said it helped you open up your playing style. That's a really, really cool thing to hear. As for heads, I've always played Remo heads. I have a coated Ambassador snare head, and pinstripes for both toms and the bass. I play those now, and also used them on Get Rad. I tried Aquarian heads once because the guy at the music store said they were "amazing" (he probably got paid more for selling those or something), and I really didn't like them much personally. Matt could be right about the bass drum though...I just didn't like the way the toms sounded with Aquarians. Also, I've heard that Evans heads are great for toms, but I haven't had the balls to try them yet.

Tim speaks from more experience than I do on the Aquarian heads for all drums other than the kick, but I love the Superkick kick drum heads from Aquarian. They are so nice because you can take all your muffling out of your drum and it will sound amazing with virtually no overtones and will sound huge like Bonham's kick... if you want the tighter, clickier sound for punk music all your have to do is tighten it up and it will still require little to no tuning adjustments pending that you have a torque wrench or key, unless you just have a terrible bass drum. Good luck.

I ended up choosing Evans G2's for the toms....i have heard a lot about them and i figured i would give them a shot. I Have pinstripes right now, but i want to try to get a more open sound and see what happens. As for aquarian... i have an American Vintage snare batter, and it sounds really nice, crisp and really responsive. I didn't have the money to get bass heads, so those are gonna have to wait, but i am seriously considering the Superkicks (i have heard nothing but good things). thanks for the input guys, i really appreciate it. Tim, i think its really cool that you give drum lessons... music is such a powerful thing, and you guys have been given a hell of a gift... cant wait till the show (should i worry about the freebird selling-out? Is there any way to preorder tickets? thanks)
