I'm glad that there's actually still a good band in that genre that will get mass exposure. All those so called punk bands on MTV now are either emo or just plain pop. I've always liked Green Day and I'm glad that their album can do well in a fucked up music world that we have today. However, I saw a recent picture of them and they looked like someone dressed them up like Good Charlotte with mascara and emo looking suits with ties... kind of wierd.

Theres a topic on this cd in the "et cetera" section also, but yeah...the album's amazing. Green Day's an incredibly talented band, and they definitely put together one of the better cd's I've ever heard. I saw that Gothic thing they were doing Matt....but don't worry dude, I don't think they would ever try to copy Good Charlotte. I'm sure they just thought it was funny or something.
If anyone doesn't have this cd yet, you should get it...it's frickin incredible.

I can't believe how long Jesus of Surburbia is! I guess it's their epic number... I doubt you'll be hearing that on the radio anytime soon. That albums pretty good so far.

I hereby retract anything bad I've ever said about Green Day circa their Warning-International Superhits-Shenanigans period. I have always and will always love them, and this album once again tells me why. Freakin' awesome.

The look they're going for is Resevoir Dogs, not exactly Goth.
Well I've been meaning to write something on this topic since i heard the CD a month back. It's a great CD but it in no way is original. They just bit about everyband you can think of on this album. Yeah it sounds great, but fuck, has nothing original to offer.
What really struck me funny was the use of piano. I remember when the Green Day Tribute CD came out a few kids tried knocking inspection 12's FOD cover because it has piano in it. And apparently that wasn't too punk or green day.
I think this just proves that Inspection 12 was already one step ahead of Green Day. I think Inspection 12 needs to recruit Billy Joe for producer on their next album. Because Get Rad had the potential to be as epic as American Idiot, but it wasn't edited well enough, so it's not exactly that tight of an album. Amazing songs of course, but not exactly a primo record.
mad props to dan and the boys for giving green day some ideas for that album.

i dont think you can really compare jesus of suburbia to the decline. I mean sure, they both go for the same length, but if you listen to the greenday song, alot of it is just extended verses etc and ALMOST gets tedious, but it's still a great song and i would be proud to write something like that. Nothing comapres to Dookie but its great to see them stand the test of time. You guys more than likely (usa) would've heard of a band Relient K, it's very poppy, but i've really been enjoying their harmonies and song writing as of late..

What do you mean the songs are the same length? jesus of suburbia is 9 minutes compared to decline's 18 minute anthem. The decline also has recurring themes and isn't as assembled as jesus. Jesus of Suburbia sounds like 4 songs that they put together. And it's not that hard to write lyrics to connect them. Anways, my ten cents says Decline demolishes American Idiot as far as concept albums/songs go.

ok. i ment same lengths as in they are both longer than most songs you will hear. of course decline is better, but i just thing jesus of suburbia gets a little boring.

Yea the CD is pretty sweet. But Dookie will always be my favorite. I guess it's cause that was the first Green Day I had ever heard but still, its a great CD. I dont agree with their politics but who cares when it comes to music.
