yea, they were pretty off and not really all that good...when i was first flipping through the channels i didn't know who it was but i just thought "man, why are these guys on TV? they're horrible!" then i found out they were NoFX and started to realize why they're not in the mainstream...it's not cause they don't want to be, but because they don't seem to put on that good of a live show sound-wise and they also don't take a national TV appearance too seriously...they looked pretty wasted/high/messed up.
sorry guys...will always be a NoFX fan, but that performance didn't help my cause with people who think real punk is NFG or Blink-One-Eighty-Shit

be honest, what band has ever sounded good on conan?? i honestly have never heard any band sound even decent on there. it seems like it's just conan too. yellowcard sounded like shit on conan, but then they sounded great on the pepsi smash thing. NOFX Rocks. i love those old bastards.

"Apparently someone over at Late Night with Conan O'Brien is under the impression that NOFX is a legitimate act, because they'll be performimg live on August 10th. Boy are they in for a surprise. It couldn't work out any more perfectly for NOFX however, because Fat Wreck will be releasing Rock Against Bush Vol. II on that very same day. You can bet the boys will take full advantage of this opportunity to do some additional rocking against Bush."
that's off of nofx.org. funny stuff. it's awesome to have a band out there that doesn't give a shit. other than I12 of course.

thats a bs line from nofx, don't fall for the fact that they don't care that they're on conan, and oh, what a coincidence they can promote rock against bush.
fat mike has always been up to crap like that. when pump up the valuum came out, they released a radio single. they claimed they wanted the stations to play the song about the demise of big radio and major record labels, but turned out the stations played bottles to the ground. so at warped tour nofx refused to play bottles because it was on the radio. fat mike is a genius when it comes to pretending to be indie but at the same time using mainstream media to promote.
this conan scenario is no different. i'm sure they worked their asses to get on the show. Its not like it just fell into their laps, and oh well lets just play it. mike's a savy business man. so don't fall for the indie trickery, its all $$$

i just wanted to say, i saw alkaline trio on conan a while back and they were really good. but yeah, fat mike always has a reason for doing something. also, when has nofx played a show and been sober. i havent seen them sober in the 5 times or so that i have seen them.

i totally agree that nofx worked to get on conan. it didn't just happen. i just thought it was rad how they didn't care about their performance. i mean, fat mike changed the lyrics up and added the f-word for a tv performance!? now that's funny shit.

hey! I think your being a bit too sure of yourself Scott (no offence meant). I mean, yeah, Fat Wreck probably did have to work it out a least a little.. but I don't think NOFX and Fat Mike are faking to be indie and acting all capitalistic behind the drunken smiles.. If they wanted to make big cash, they'dve signed on a major label back in 1996 when they were asked.. I for one believe Fat Mike has a real songwriting ability, just the facility with which he pulls out good songs (or at least really decent ones) is quite amazing.. even if they're latest album is not as incredible as say, "So Long..", it's still packed with great melodies etc. So I truly believe they choose to be "alternative" '(for whatever that means). Then of course, Fat Mike is no idiot, and has learned to run his business well.. "common sense, my parents said I never had any, but now look at who's got the dough.." anyway, I think they have talent, beliefs, make good music, and have learn to make money and a living out of it. It's ok by me.

If they wanted to make big cash, they'dve signed on a major label back in 1996 when they were asked.. I didn't say they were out for big cash even though fat Mike is a millionaire off the success of fat wreck and nofx. I said they continually give off an image of being indie while at the same time using mainstream media to promote, then making up some excuse why they used the mainstream. they wrote a song about it: we threw gasoline on the fire ..... I don't see the relevance of the Conan performance. Not as incredible as "so long"? OK, I see where u stand. This is where you fall flat on your face. For one, don't use lyrics to understand a person. You never know, those lyrics could've been written in the studio and its something fat Mike doesn't care about. But ahah, the truth to those lyrics: That song is about Mr. Brett of Bad religion, not fat mike. That song is about Brett becoming sober, and having the dough. yup, owning epitaph gets u some dough. That's what I believed for years, that's what most nofx fans believe. And that's why I trying to bring up something different. NOFX are pros at shaping a positive image of themselves. I'm here questioning the validity of such claims. All I'm asking is just think about it, and don't take fat mike's word for it.

Man NOFX has been my favourite band for ever. I see where your comming from Scott but i disagree just because i have read so much stuff into nofx for years i really think its got to be hard for Fat Mike to draw the line but hes done it for so long. They have been around for a longlong time i dont think they are gonna loose or gain too many more fans than they have. l also i thought it was funny when they did play NOFX on Australian radio that fans rang the station and told them to pull NOFX off the air. I think thats awsome respect to the band.

To the person who said that NOFX could have made a lot more money if they would have jumped to a major, I have to disagree. Odds are, being that Mike owns Fat Wreck Chords, the WHOLE band now does pretty well from album sales. Even back on Epitaph I imagine NOFX had some pretty good one-album contracts, especially compared to a lot of major label deals. Just my thoughts.
ps. I didn't think the performance was that good. Fat Mike's live singing gets worse every year, I don't know what the deal is.
