Anyone here a fan of theirs. I can see I12 toruing with those guys. Their music's sort of similar with I12 having more of a punk sound.

I second that.
3 of my drums (bass, floor & snare) are Pearl and my tom is a vintage drum (not by Pearl), which is why I said:
3 piece Pearl "WITH" vintage tom (not 4 piece Pearl).
And it's called a floor tom, not a low tom.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I really appreciate it. I will make an effort to find a really good drum teacher before the summer's over. I could learn some new tricks or even relearn/improve old ones. I hate being ignorant anyway.
As for Tré Cool. Green Day is my favorite band and if it weren't for him, I wouldn't be playing drums. Seriously! I've been their biggest fan since I was 10 (1994). I just think Tré makes drumming sound effortless when I see him live.
Some other drum-oriented bands, you should check out:
Glasseater - Everything's Beautiful When You Don't Look Down (their new drummer is incredible),
Alice In Chains - Over Now (this track sounds simple, but the hi-hat, splash fills that he throws in, shows that the slightest things really DO make a song sound good).
Snot - Snot (Jamie Miller is a very underrated drummer. The Used drummer, says this guy is one of his biggest influences). The Used are great too.
anything and everything by Strung Out, Alien Ant Farm, the Flaming Lips and Nothingface.
One thing that I enjoy about playing an instrument is that it's opened me up to a diverse range of music, that I would never have listened to, otherwise. And it's good to talk to like-minded individuals here on this board.

I've been a fan of the band since I heard the original version of Nothing To Lose, a song I downloaded years ago. How I got the song was a complete fluke, and I've been trying to get a hold of Step Into the Fire with no luck, since then ( I live in Canada and you didn't have much on your site at the time).
Anyway, I wasn't too crazy about the new version of Nothing To Lose as far as the tempo sounded, but it's a great tune nonetheless.
And I agree that good sounding drummers know what to play and when to play it. If anyone else here is into drums, I recommend anything by Alkaline Trio, Dashboard Confessional, Senses Fail, RX Bandits, 311 and anything Josh Freese is in (Vandals/APC/....). Longineu from Yellowcard is a pretty solid drummer too. Ocean Avenue is a really fun song to play on the drums. I just learned to play Only One which is also a great sounding tune.
I've been playing drums for 3 years and I've been contemplating this for the longest time. Should I take drum lessons? I'm completely self-taught and am not sure if lessons will do me better. I don't know how to read music notes, but so far I've figured out how to cover songs without using tabs (it's not that hard). My drum rolls could improve though. I'd really like to be good at doing paradiddles. Any suggestions? Tim or anyone?

Hey, if you people think Pete shouldn't be in Yellowcard because of their success, than I think he has no business being in any band for that matter.
Think about it. Why do you think bands record their music? Why do you think bands play shows in front of the public? Inspection 12 does not make music for themselves, at least I hope they don't. No band does, unless you're a hardcore band and last time I checked, Inspection 12 does not play hardcore. Bands record their music, in hopes to expose their art to as much people as possible. Even hardcore bands want to get paid for their music and earn a living out of doing something they love.
What do you think Yellowcard is doing? If my band made it, yes, I would do a music video, even if it means my band's getting played on MTV or the radio. I would do anything to live my dream, as long as I'm not sacrificing my artistic integrity. And that means spreading your music to as much people. If my band ever breaks it, I would never want to go back to my 9 to 5 job. Neither would any other band.
A lot of bands want to make a living playing the music that they love, for people that think it's kick ass. Even MTV kids. If these kids really dig the music, than who cares? These kids are liking this band for the right reason. I've seen and met people at hardcore shows, who are simply IN IT because it's the trend. They come to shows sporting their bandanas and combat military hats, expecting to fit in and they just look fucking ridiculous. It's safe to say that these people do not belong because they're not in it for the music. I would honestly rather hang around MTV kids, than these so called "underground" music fanatics.
You cannot make a living out of your music, by staying underground. Ken Susi of Unearth still lives with his parents, despite his band's underground success. I'm talking about a very well established musician here from one of the most worshipped bands today. Unearth are metalcore gods! But the sad truth is a lot of musicians in great bands still live with their parents and don't make a lot of money. Some live in vans! For a band to stay underground and to say that we make music for ourselves and no one else, is plain selfish.
If Inspection 12 was being played on MTV instead of Yellowcard, everyone here would be bitching at the Yellowcard board, using their parents computers with the wireless internet access that their parents pay for.
Money does not come out of anyone's ass. Bottom line.
