look, i'm just here to bitch about how much i miss the old days of cramming into the "old" milkbar which i'm sure many people who respond on here were too young to remember, but damn, those were some good times, going inside and rocking your ass off to an i-12 show, or i mean whoever was playing...i saw descendents on a thursday night in 10 th grade, and like many shows there, it was sweating hot like i was in hell only to walk outside on a freezing february night...i mean literally those were the days i was discovering music...good music ( old lagwagon, no use, less than jake, etc.) ya know, the old days, before record companies decided it was ok to push good charlotte records and the warped tour...i mean shit, we were in jacksonville in an odd era for music, we coludnt see the pixies, the smiths, stuff like that....too late and no venue to see them if it wasn't...anyways, my point is, i-12 should have gotten their shot a long time ago...why is yellowcard any better? i mean my one solice is that buddyhead named them one of the worst albums of 2003 (yellowcard)...they suck ass and have 1/10th of the musical influence and knowledge/talent of i-12...regardless, no matter how my musical tastes change, im still down with havin a few beers with good friends and listening to the first 3 i-12 albums...i mean i live in boston now and i've graduated college...but fuckin-a man, i still remember bullshitting with pete and damion in high school about lynyrd skynyrd, zeppelin and billy joel and shit...basically, my point is, i like the new stuff and all, but it's time to re- evaluate yourselves as artists and reinvent the sound...i feel like you all have so much talent and knowledge about music and the DIY process that you can leave the pop punk thing back where it belongs in 10th grade and destroy the rock world...sorry if i sound critical, and i'm no expert, christ i can hardly sing karaoke to def leppard properly, but again, i know how much talent you all have and i just wanted to throw my 2 cents in...good luck to all of you and i'll always remain a fan

Good to know there's another i12 fan in boston. Dude, yellowcard has gotten their chance because they play more mainstream music and they tour about 365 days a year. As for leaving the pop punk thing and reinventing themselves, I think they pretty much did that with get rad and the three new songs on in recovery. They are totally going in a new direction.

I'll have to agree with Jason and also say that was a pretty nice post and you might want to expect some posts lashing out at you.
I think Get Rad is more experimental than actually taking off in a new direction. Feelin' Like Freddie is the perfect example. Just how French Subtitles is basically NOFX influenced its still a great song on its own, but lacks a lot of creativity that they pick up in the later albums. Feelin' like freddie is basically a ben folds song mixed with some billy joel and brian wilson. Again the song is great, but it sounds very beginner. So i'm predicting that the next album will have lost all of that beginner sound and jump straight into the rocking that Jason seeks. Again folks, not beginner as in they don't know what they're doing but as in, anyone who knows ben folds can hear the obvious similarity, just how a lot of you guys like to rip on bands for sounding like blink 182, its the same thing.
cheers

what do you mean why is yellowcard any better? they obviously tour a shitload, and practice all of the time. That's their fucking job, not their 'hobby'. there's reasons why some bands get signed and some don't, and not some little random let's pick the cutest band award. good charlotte are some of the most amazing song writers, and to prove it, you try to write a song, let alone more than 1,350 demo songs for one album, and sell millions of copies of your songs. damn, music critics come from the oddest places. inspection 12 are doing what they enjoy and love, if they don't want to do anything more with themselves, then get over it.

that's the first time i've ever heard the words "good charlotte" and "amazing musicians" used in a sentence lacking the words "are not", "will never be", "wish they could be"...not a good thing.

yeah Blink 182 has one too.. little bands trying to get their name out there.. now a I-12 tribute would be something completly different. about the main subject, uhh, hard to be concerned when you live on the other side of the ocean..

get the fuck over good charlotte, ok? I like them. I <33 I-12 way more. Just because someone likes I-12 doesn't mean they cant like anything else. i like everything from brand new to yellowcard to mest to the get up kids to death cab for cutie to nofx and rancid to inspection 12. I hate mainstream bands, and it's thanks to good charlotte because of that. 4 years ago, if you had heard gc before they were unbearably popular, you'd have shit yourself over them, and you know it. (maybe not all of you, but most of you) I would have. and just because I'm 13/14 doesn't mean i'm an idiot and dont know waht I'm talking about. I love I-12. I love YC, but I hate their newfound popularity. sure, i've never seen either band, which isn't exactly my fault if my mom is so overprotective of me. These are circumstances i have to deal with. but i still adore I-12 and spread the word to those who deserve it. you probably think i'm some stupid fucking kid who has no clue what she's saying--and you may be right-- but dont fucking underestimate me. I get that so much, and mainly because of my gc past. and present, and future. I can like gc. Not to the point I go buy tons of eyeliner and wear fishnet stockings and dye my hair (*cough* Weirdo) in fact, i wear jeans and my beloved brand new are mine tshirt. I'm actually very mature and understanding and all that good stuff. so dont pull the "she's a kid ignore her and she'll go away" trick. I love the things you love as much as you love them and the things you don't notice more than you do. and this post is not a dis to you, jason, but to anyone who takes offense from it.
and about the "let's pick the cutest band award" HELLO. this is MTV we're talking about. of course that's how they figure out who's new. it doesnt take a genius to write a good song. My friend Elle, in NY, writes better lyrics than probably half the bands any of you could name. and sure bands write tons of songs for a cd and narrow it down... and no offense to bands who use this method.. .but me being a writer and all, that feels unfaithful to me. each song is it's own story, and a story can only be stated so many ways. I say write 15 songs and pick 14. but i dont have as much knowledge as you guys, i guess.
and i challenge one of you... ask me how i found out about inspection 12. i dare you.
meanwhile, check out yellowcard in the florida times union for march 26. interesting notes about inspection 12. too mych trl references though.
xoxo, kristi {those words at best were worse than teenage poetry}

how the hell can you be 13/14? it's either one or the other, fucking pick one. who cares how you heard about i12? it doesn't fucking matter...and you don't have to try and make witty little remarks using their lyrics, and then draw pointed attention to the song that you quoted from so that everyone knows that you're really an i12 fan. there's probably only a handful of people on this board who know what album that song is from, or that it even is an i12 song. and just out of curiosity, how can you hate a band for being popular, and yet love them at the same time? you can't preach about one thing and do the opposite. i hate good charlotte because they suck. i also hate mtv. but i don't preach about "mainstream" music while i sit at home and watch it. make up your fucking mind. liking a band's music but not liking them because they're mainstream is just fucking stupid. get off the "punk rock" bandwagon and just say you like gc, instead of saying "well, i like their music, but the're mainstream, and i have to hate all things mainstream because i'm punk, so i don't really like them after all." holy shit. i don't think you're an idiot because you're "13/14," i think you're an idiot because you're just fucking dumb. this is a fucking anonymous message board about a band, we don't want to hear your life fucking story or hear about your mom. that's what your "blogs" are for. you sound like a whiny little poser to me. you wouldn't even remember the old milkbar days...you were 4 or 5 around that time, so you have no idea what that adult conversation is about. why don't you go watch mtv for a while and let the adults finish their conversation, okay? did anyone read that times-union article? "their" band, indeed. do they even know where yc came from? those fucking kids, man...pete was in the band before alex was, pete wrote part of ocean ave. i can't really articulate how much it pissed me off. at least i got to rip apart some fucking "i'm punk because i don't like mainstream" loser. that makes me feel better. jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/032604/ent_15173492.shtml

sorry i'm back.
yeah i expected some asshole like you to reply. I'm "13/14" because now i'm 13, but my birthday's in 2 weeks. and don't fucking call me a "poser". I've been thru my punk stage. i like gc because they do write good lyrics and they play really well, not better than mxpx but still good. I don't hate THEM for being mainstream, the same as i will never hate yellowcard for being mainstream... i hate all the fucking 20-somethings at mtv who make them that. And don't EVER fucking imply that i watch MTV. ever since i started liking gc and realized how much I hate mainstream-ness, I haven't touched mtv. I watch fuse and that's IT. oh, and vh1, but that's still not MTV. I'm not a fucking poser because i do things because I want to, not because someone else thinks I should or just because someone else does. I stopped liking all that goth and punk shit (clothing and attitude, i mean) because it's IGNORANT. those people think they're saying "look at me i don't care what you think" when really they're just being stupid and saying "tell me what you think so I can try to feel special". it's all very idiotic. if you EVER ran into me, you would never recognize me for who i am, because I'm not a fucking poser.
oh and no shit I was 4 or 5 around "the old milkbar days" because I wasn't fucking born till 1990!!!! did you miss that? how can i control some aspect of my life, such as age? can YOU? it's not my fucking fault. you people think you're the shit because "oh wow i was around when..." and all that shit. oh wow, you've known of inspection 12 for SO MUCH LONGER THAN ME. feel special now? I don't really fucking care. the only person that actually makes a difference to is my sister, only because she got me hooked on this shit. oh... maybe it's her fault for not taking me to those inspection 12 parties back 4 years ago...
oh, and don't give me that shit about this not being my "blog" because i was planning on sending you this as a message, but you being i12's greatest fan you're not signed-in/up. but hey, check out my blog anyways. but then you'd have to slam about my html then, too, wouldn't you? or my lyrics? c'est les merde. god...
and btw, it doesn't take age to make an adult. i'm actually very mature... it's just mondo ASSHOLES tend to make me resort to less civilized means of conversation. or whatever the shit you call this.
i hope you feel really fucking special now. have a gnarly day, man.

you guys have alot of pent up anger. you should get that checked out.
the only really dumb thing anyone said was when you said that GC has good lyrics. If you think they write good lyrics, Id love to see your friend who lives in NY's lyrics. come on, "Girls dont like boys, girls like cars and money" is one of the worst lines ever written. it ranks in there with "theres a place off ocean avenue where i used to sit and talk with you."
