what's your favorite key to write in?
and...how did the trilogy of songs...better friend, reckoned wrong, and terrified come about? did you know it was gonna be three songs? or like...did it just happen that they all fit right after one another?

I'm very excited about Jersey Girl. One of the reasons I went to see Cold Mountain was so I could see the Jersey Girl preview. Looks like its gonna be a real cute movie. I'm actually real excited about Troy. The preview looks pretty rediculous.
Dan, you're a theater guy, what's your favorite musical/play?

Connor- Please dont take my bass away from me.
Actor(s): Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ralph Fiennes, Benecio Del Toro, Brian Cox...too hard to say but those are definitely four of my top ten. Actress(es): Julianne Moore, Cate Blanchett , Holly Hunter...etc. Director(s): Either Wes Anderson, The Coens or Jean Pierre Juenet. I'd also like to add that Peter Jackson is a visionary. 2004 Film: The Life Aquatic
Dave: Lost in Translation was one of my top 3 of 2003 for sure. Amazing.
I think either A or Bb is my favorite key. It's where I feel the most comfortable singing I guess.
Better Friend, Reckoned and Terrified were all separate songs that we're written around the same time. They all happened to be short and in G so we decided we'd "Abbey" them together when we put them on Step Into the Fire. When we went back in to do Get Rad we thought we'd add in Soap Operas because it also happened to be in G and we'd thought of that new triplet ending that leads off into Better Friend.
Plays: Instead of listing shows Im gonna list playwrights. Most anything by Tom Stoppard. I like David Hare, Some Mamet, James McClure, William Seebring, Shaw, Eugene O'Neill, just recently got into Samuel Beckett. Many more that Im sure Im forgetting. Musicals: Tommy, of course. Ragtime. City of Angels. Into the Woods, Assassins - anything Sondheim really.

I heard a rumour floating around that you had been thinking about writing a musical...Any future plans for something like that? I think it would be rad.

Into the Woods is an amazing play. We did it my senior year in high school, and I've been in love with it since I heard the music. Another one to check out is "Sideshow", a very tragic and funny play. The music is excellent.

That one would be better for Dan to answer, but I'm almost positive that it is Mark O'Quinn singing those lines. peace.

Dan,Pete,Tim, Matt, what are your thoughts on the Elliott Smith situation if any? The fact that he's no longer with us, the fact that the case is still open, he may have been murdered? Were you fans?
