Hey Guys. I've just stumbled across this, and was somewhat interested. I don't know if this is known about or if it's been covered or anything, but check this page out: www.purevolume.com/brandnewday/musicIt's the Purevolume page of a Band Called Brand New Day. Right at the bottom of the page, the last song on offer under the 'Instrumentals' album is a sample of a song called Nothing To Lose. Which as you probably know is also the name of the last song on Get Rad. They are, in fact, the same song. I also noticed that Brand New Day's version was released in 2003. Before 'Get Rad' Can anybody shed any light on this? Is there some connection between the two bands that I don't know about? Is it actually a case of two bands covering the same song that I've never heard by a third band? Did that make sense? Why am I asking so many questions? Am I just being stupid? I am, aren't I? Shall I just go? Okay, I'll go. My apologies. [Edit] Okay, hold on. Apparently I WAS being stupid. I completely overlooked the part at the end of the song title that said 'cover' Time for more questions. Did Inspection 12 do the original? and these guys have covered that, or was I right in saying that Both bands have covered a 3rd party's song? If you actually went through and read all of that, I sincerely apologise for taking 10 minutes off of your life [/edit]

nothing to lose was written in 99 by inspection 12 and was first released on their album Step Into The Fire. Hence brandnewday's cover.
The fact that their version is instrumental didn't clue you in?

Not to mention this band butchered that intro. Oh wait, and this middle part. I mean it's one thing to change songs to make them better, but that's not what they've done.

Yeah, it's kind of strange to cover a song that has bass and drums with just electric guitars... I could understand maybe doing it as an acoustic song, but solo electric guitar sounds sort of inapproriate without the backing band, plus there's no instruments doing the vocal melodies. All in all, quite a strange cover. But at least they're paying respects to a band they obviously like.
By the way Yoda, what are you impressions of the Episode III trailer? It looks quite promising, but I cannot stand the acting of that Hayden Christiensen (spelling?) guy that's playing Anakin, so hopefully if he doesn't ruin it, it will be good.
That's so cool that they have the same actor playing Senator Palpatine as they did playing the Emperor in the first trilogy... it's going to be awesome to see how he transforms. He must not have been very old when they filmed the first movies because I figured he would have been dead by now, but I guess it was all the makeup that made him look old. I always thought that Palpatine had a striking resemblance to the Emperor and now I know for sure that's it's him even though I thought that ever since Episode I. Anyway, enough ramblings. Later.

This cover is ridiculously stupid. We all get that you can shred, but can you sing??? :-)

Anakin and Obi-Wan have the throwdown of all throwdowns. Promise this, I do. Other than this, I can not say. Spoilers I must not give away.

not only did they butcher Nothing to Lose, but also Playing Favorites by the Starting Line...this is craziness, if your gonna do a cover make sure you can do it well. But at least the bands know that they are your inspiration now

hopefully that band doesn't come on to this messageboard. You may not like it, but atleast show some respect to some kids who enjoy the same band as you. Matt said it nicely
