All of my favorite bands are already listed in the bio's page. I don't really listen to too many old bands... and ironically, I don't really listen to any punk bands but Inspection 12. Oh well... later.

Look, I'm not trying to start an argument here so don't respond with "Oh, you don't know what you're talking about" or any of that because I'm just expressing what I think. Anyway, I'm a bluegrass head... I've listened to bluegrass for years and years and play it all the time... I happen to think that Nickel Creek is ruining bluegrass and every other type of music for that matter. I think their music is the most overproduced commercial crap that I've ever heard and Chris Thile is the only talented member of the band, and I'm NOT talking about his vocals. Maybe my opinion is biased because I did lighting for them at the Freebird and they were just deuschbags, except for the girl, she was nice. And most of their fans were completely right wing conservative Christian morons who wouldn't know soul if it slapped them in the face. They had no right being in our club, but I'm not going to complain because it was sold out and we made money, but next time they should play the Florida Theatre so we don't get ssshhhh'ed all night. Sorry, JonnyLaw if I've offened your musical sensibilities... I will say that I do understand why you like Nickel Creek because they are not bad musicians, but from someone that listens to traditional bluegrass, they are not doing good things for the genre, in my opinion. Just had to get that off my chest. peace.

I've heard a lot of Nickel Creek...and their stuff has always come off as packed with talent...but seeing as I'm not the bluegrass expert, I can pretty easily believe the things you say, Matt. The only objection I've had to them so far (until you said they're dicks) is that their lyrics and the feel of their songs are far to nature-ish and fairy tale-like. I feel as if I'm listening to banjos and watching David the Gnome at the same time...HaHa...I have a problem with that whole deal...that probably explains my lack of interest in things like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings (NONE of which I've ever seen). Anyways, getting of that tangent, I must say their music is excellent to fall asleep to.

I completely agree with the Nickel Creek rant; I am not a fan at all. And bluegrass is fun. Up at my college last semester we had a lecture from the US Banjo Playing Champion. He was just incredible.

This' one of them threads that will fill up fast... There are so damn many great bands out there!
I listen to (among others, and in no particular order); Inspection 12 (obviously... even redundant to post them here, but meh) Craig's Brother NOFX Lagwagon Rise Against The Killing Tree Thrice Choke I-Spy Propagandhi Thought Riot Satanic Surfers Good Riddance Elliot Smith No Use for a Name Against Me! Skumdum Venerea 88 Fingers Louie Strung Out Misconduct Hatebreed The Lawrence Arms Diesel Boy Brand New ...and lots more. I suggest you check out the bands up there you haven't heard/heard about.

It's really interesting to see what everyone listens to. There of course are a lot of people listening to punk rock, but then bluegrass was well...outta the blue. Then more then one person mentioned Built To Spill... This is bizarre.
